This project includes a renewal and expansion of the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre, a 144,200 square foot facility, originally built in 1958. Work includes the renovation of the existing building, as well as an expansion east into the parking lot and green space between the University’s John T. Powell Building and the new Gryphon Field House.

The expanded facilities will include a fitness center, a triple gymnasium and event center, multipurpose rooms, locker rooms, meeting rooms, a climbing wall, and student lounge areas. The project is currently underway and expected to be complete in December 2016.

This project requires site development, hard and soft landscaping and additional infrastructure such as central plant steam, chilled water, and electrical power. The project is expected to achieve LEED® Silver accreditation.
