The Lakeshore multi-use recreation complex, called the Atlas Tube Centre, involved the construction of a three ice pad arena, gymnasium, library, and several community rooms and meeting spaces all intended to bring the local community together. Aquicon Construction’s staff worked closely with the architects at MJMA, leveraging a tenured relationship built on constructing numerous recreational facilities with similar components and clear span areas. The Atlas Tube Centre was delivered successfully to the Town of Lakeshore on-time and on-budget.
“Throughout construction, Aquicon acted professionally in all aspects of the construction process, and working with their subcontractors and our design team was fairly seamless throughout it.”
Steve Salmons, Director of Community &
Development Services, Town of Lakeshore
The project was constructed to meet LEED® Silver accreditation, and won several awards in 2015 including the “Facility of Athletic Business Merit Award – North America” and the “Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) Award of Merit”.
